____Excitement
Presenting to you the attacking midfielder,
Robin Fong -
Flair and pace,
Deception and penetration,
Takes the mickey out of defenses,
Fills them with absolute fear,
Makes them fall on their asses,
Then murders them with speed,
Was just... flamboyant
I'm so excited. It is that time of the year again. InterHall Soccer is beckoning. Shaun told me about few months ago that we will be adopting the Barcelona system of 4-3-3. And I am asked to fill one of the wingers' spot. Being given no defensive duties, my role is to tear the defence apart, assist and score goals. Hopefully I play well to keep my place.
A year ago, I was lacking in confidence, my ruptured ankle ligaments didn't allow me to play properly and I was really scared of the ball. This time round, I can't wait to get back to training. The IVP stint has made me a better player tactically, and I've been watching Manchester United's gameplay this season. It has provided me with an inspiration to play like them.
So these days, I can't stop thinking about what I'm going to do to the poor opponents. Shoule I drift in to the centre of the field? Should I drop deep? Should I take the wingback on? Should I try long shots?
Should I play like -
Zinedine Zidane? The ex-Galactico is one of the best in history. I like the way he puts his foot on the ball and move it around as if the ball is controlled by silk. The fluid movement - poetry in motion!
Ryan Giggs? The veteran winger makes opponents look stupid. One of those who can bring the ball left, right, left, right and then nutmeg the wingback. Although he tends to stick to the flanks, he virtually glides on the grass.
Kaka? He is an all-round playmaker with electric pace, flawless technique, laser vision and scores the occasional wonder goal. While he seems to lack consistency, he is still one of those who is capable of doing things that make me look on in amazement.
Wayne Rooney? I couldn't possibly leave this British Bulldog out. Epitome of determination and shows no respect to his opponents. I like the way he drops deep and link play. The best player from England in years!
I've been training for the past two months now. But I somehow feel the level of match fitness isn't there yet. Whether or not I can produce what I know I can produce on the field will very much depend on the level of fitness. If I'm tired, I really can't do much with the ball.
I must attain match fitness!!
